Afternoon Play – Torchwood: Asylum Ep 1/3

Torchwood, the series created by Russell T Davies, returns to BBC Radio 4 with three brand new extraterrestrial investigations, starring John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd.

In this afternoon's opener, written by Anita Sullivan, PC Andy arrests a teenager for shoplifting and thinks it's going to be a routine case. He then spots the weapon she is carrying and decides to call in Torchwood. When Gwen questions the girl, she remembers her name, but little else,and, when she speaks, it is a strange mix of English and Scandinavian but with a Cardiff accent. The team is later faced with a dilemma whenthe girl's blood test results come back.
John Barrowman stars as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones.

Afternoon Play – Torchwood: Golden Age Ep 2/3

The Torchwood team head for Delhi on the trail of a dangerous energy field, in Golden Age, written by James Goss, the second part of this brand-new series of extraterrestrial investigations.
As the energy field grows once more, the team witness the simultaneous disappearance of hundreds of people and Jack discovers that the field centres on an old colonial mansion – Torchwood India.

Shocked to find that Torchwood India is still going strong, since he shut it down himself more than 80 years ago, Jack is even moresurprised to find that its members, including his old flame, the Duchess, haven't aged a day.

Afternoon Play – Torchwood: The Dead Line Ep 3/3

When a Cardiff hospital is inundated with patients who have fallen into coma-like trances, Torchwood moves in to investigate in the third part of this brand new series of extra-terrestrial investigations.

The trances appear to have been triggered by phone calls, all receivedon retro phones and made from a number that hasn't been active for morethan 30 years.
Determined to find out who's been calling the unfortunate victims, Jack rings the mysterious number – two, zero, five, nine. It seems to be a dead line ... until Jack is called back.

The third and final episode, The Dead Line, is written by Phil Ford

I have already talked about the three Torchwood Audio adventures to be transmitted as part of Radio 4s Afternoon Play, we now have a transmission dates.

Torchwood Asylum will be transmitted on Wednesday 1 July.
Torchwood Golden Age will be transmitted on Thursday 2 July.
Torchwood The Dead Line will be transmitted on Friday 3 July.

All will be at 2.15-3.00pm on BBC Radio 4.
