Fans will be hearing the infamous cries of “Exterminate!” sooner than they thought - if the latest rumour from The Daily Star is anything to go by!
According to the tabloid, the Doctor will come face to face with his greatest enemy yet again when the series returns in 2010 with Matt Smith in the leading role as the eleventh incarnation of the Time Lord.
Show producers have decided to bring back the Daleks, last seen in the Series 4 finale The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End, for the first episode of Series 5 in the hope that it’ll secure one of the programme’s biggest viewing figures yet.
“They know fans will take a while to get used to Matt as the Doctor, so it makes sense to have him fight his most famous enemies,” a BBC source told the newspaper. “They always bring good ratings.”
The report also claims that the new TARDIS interior for the fifth series will have blue walls and white windows, similiar to the classic series design of the spaceship.
Series 5 of Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan as his companion, begins filming in Cardiff next month for transmission on BBC One next Spring.
