Jack Harkeness to be in the Finale
It will come as no shock to most of you to hear that John Barrowman has been spotted filming on location for David Tennant’s last episodes.
This means Captain Jack can be added to the list of Companions Returning For The Tenth Doctor’s Regeneration, along with Donna (Catherine Tate), Sarah Jane (Elisabeth Sladen), Wilf (Bernard Cribbins), as well as Luke (Tommy Knight) and Sylvia Noble (Jacqueline King).
Meanwhile, Russell Tovey was also seen on set earlier today, confirming that he’ll be reprising his role of Alonso Frame from Voyage of the Damned.
As well as that, the Slitheen and Graske, and red and white people and men dressed as monks, were about, sparking rumours that the scene being filmed is set at the Shadow Proclomation, a scene that was originally written for The Stolen Earth but was cut out due to budget reasons.
So that just leaves Freema Agyeman and Billie Piper, and with every other member of the Children of Time already confirmed to be returning, and with just over 3 weeks of filming left, will we be seeing any exterior shooting with Martha and Rose on set?
Only time will tell…
Thanks to Scooty of the Doctor Who Forum for the Barrowman image!

DWM 408 Press Release
The 408th issue of Doctor Who Magazine is on sale in newsagents across the UK from tomorrow (Thursday 30th April), and inside there’s an exclusive interview with David Tennant who discusses what his feelings will be on his last day in role as the Time Lord.
“I don’t know how I’ll feel when I get there,” he says. “It’ll probably be very scrutinised. I don’t know if the last day will be anything like the last in story terms. Usually you’re so out of sequence that your final scene is something very unimportant - walking down the street or opening a door - so time will tell. But it’s - what? - 12 weeks away, so I’ll cope. I’ll find ways of coping.”
Also in the issue, DWM recounts the tales of what happened when the cast and crew filmed the Easter special, Planet of the Dead, in Dubai, and Russell T Davies reveals how he saved the life of script editor Gary Russell in this month’s Production Notes.

More news about Claire Bloom
Some very interesting news has surfaced online today. According to various media sources, Claire Bloom will appear in David Tennant’s last episode(s) as (highlight to reveal) the Doctor’s mum!
According to her manager, the actress, 78, is ‘filming at the moment’, and is said to be over the moon about landing the role.
“The script is a very closely guarded secret,” her close friend told the Daily Mail. “The producers are desperate for Claire’s appearance to be a surprise.”
Bloom first rose to fame in 1952, when she was chosen by Charlie Chaplin to appear in his film, Limelight. Since then, she has become one of Britain’s most loved actresses, and is probably best known for her portrayal of Blanche DuBois in the play A Streetcar Named Desire.
According to the reports, the BBC have refused to comment on the rumours, so treat the story as that - a rumour - until there’s any official word!

Claire Bloom To Play the Doctors Mother
Bloom, who has starred with and romanced some of Hollywood's greatest actors in a 60-year career, will appear next year alongside David Tennant, in his final outing as the Doctor.
"It is happening. They are filming at the moment.
I have been organising her schedule," her manager in America, Marion Rosenberg, is reported to have told the Daily Mail.
Bloom, 78, who lives alone in Fulham, north London, rose to prominence after being chosen by Charlie Chaplin to appear in his film Limelight in 1952. She is said to be excited by her new role.
A friend of the actress told the newspaper: "The script is a very closely guarded secret, as the producers are desperate for Claire's appearance to be a surprise."
Bloom is well known for playing Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire in both London and New York. She desribed the role as her favourite.
She had a relationship with Richard Burton after they appeared together in Hamlet, Look Back In Anger and in the film The Spy Who Came In From The Cold.
She was married three times, first to the actor Rod Steiger, next to the producer Hillard Elkins and finally to the novelist Philip Roth.
A BBC spokesman declined to comment.
The Telegraph and Mail are claiming 78 year old Claire Bloom, a Hollywood actress, is to appear in Doctor Who, playing the Doctors Mother!

Happy Birthday RTD
We’d just like to send our wishes to Russell T Davies, who’s celebrating his 46th birthday today.
Had it not been for Russell approaching the BBC and asking to bring back Doctor Who, the chances are we would still have our social lives - not to mention every other new series fansite which has cropped up since 2004 - would never have existed.
Well, the chances are somebody else at some other moment in time would’ve brought the good Doctor back to our screens, but even then it would’ve no doubt been a completely different show to the one we sit down to watch on Saturday nights now.
Those of you who have read The Writer’s Take will appreciate the hard work and dedication that Russell has put into the show these past few years, and the love that he has for it, and we think it’s his love that has driven the new series since its return in 2004, picking up a new generation of fans along the way.
So, we hope Russell has a fantastic day and we’d just like to thank him for taking away our social lives, proving to us that you CAN fall in love with a fictional character and, most of all, showing the world that sci-fi geeks DO have more fun…

SJA Filming Crew
Set Report from Caerphilly castle 27/04/09
They're at Caerphilly Castle filming Doctor Who, inside the East Gatehouse (on the left in the second picture), in the Constables Hall and Broase Gallery. From the guidebook, the Hall looks grand and is newly refurbished, opening to the public in August. The gallery is apparently a narrow passageway above the Great Hall. Their plan is to finish there today, by 9 or 10pm, but may continue tomorrow morning if necessary.
I saw plenty of crew coming and going: Peter Bennett, Danny Hargreaves, main wardrobe and makeup people, sound and camera guys. It looked like the main unit, but couldn't be sure.
I saw two supporting actresses in matching white blouses, black trousers, chunky black shoes. One was blonde, one with black hair. I couldn't recognise either of them. I was reminded of the two who left Tredegar House with coats over their heads, white labcoats, black trousers and chunky shoes. Then again, since they're supporting artists and probably not well-known, why hide their faces? I was told David Tennant wasn't there, but couldn't verify that either way.
There was definitely effects work going on. A greenscreen went in, as did the reflective globe they use for CGI reference.
Special thanx to Alun.Vega for the photographs and set report!

Something is going on at Caephilly Castle, its defiantly Doctor Who filming, it looks like they haven't started yet, a night shoot perhaps?
Filming is taking place in the Inner East Gatehouse, which is closed to the public today, although they seem to be filming after the castle closes (5pm+)!

DW Finale News (Spoilers)
DAVID Tennant will bow out as the Doctor in explosive style.
Doctor Who fans will be treated to the most exciting finale the BBC1 show has ever seen as Tennant, 38, departs.
Even the inside of the Tardis gets blown to bits during the Christmas and New Year two-parter.
We have been leaked details about the plot and can reveal that Tennant’s Doctor will clash with old enemy The Master.
He also has to battle his fellow Time Lords after discovering they have turned evil.
We can also reveal the warning the Doctor received at the end of the Easter special that “He will knock four times” refers to The Master, played by John Simm, 38.
Companions Donna (Catherine Tate, 40), Martha (Freema Agyeman, 30), Captain Jack (John Barrowman, 41) and Sarah Jane (Lis Sladen, 61) also feature in the plot.
An insider said: “The producers are throwing everything they’ve got into Tennant’s finale. He will go out with a bang.”
Fans will see Tennant regenerate into the new Doctor Matt Smith at the end of the two-part festive special.
Smith, 26, will take on the lead role starting next spring.
The Daily Star reports the inside of the TARDIS is to be blown up in the Christmas special (it is due for an update, as the series is going High Definition, so this is likely)
They also say the Time Lords are returning, and they will have turned evil (I have already speculated about this here).
They also claim the Knock four times prediction means the Master, but Russell T Davies has gone on record claiming its not what you think, so who knows?
There is more information in the article, but the rest is nothing new,
The Daily Star has today leaked what they describe as ‘Top Secret Details’ about this year’s regeneration finale.
The tabloid claims that the TARDIS will be ’blown to bits’ during the two-parter, which will transmit on BBC One and BBC HD over Christmas and the New Year. It’s thought that the decision was made to destroy the spaceship to make way for the brand new console set which will be introduced with the 11th Doctor in Series Five.
Meanwhile, the newspaper also claims that not only will the Master be returning for the episodes, but the Doctor will also have to, as they put it, ’battle his fellow Time Lords after discovering they have turned evil’. Oh dear…
And finally - if the ’Star’ is to be believed - John Barrowman and Freema Agyeman will be reprising their roles of Jack Harkness and Martha Jones to help the Doctor do battle alongside Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, Bernard Cribbins as Wilf and Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane (the last 3 of whom have already been spotted on set…)
“The producers are throwing everything they’ve got into Tennant’s finale,” a BBC source told the newspaper. “He will go out with a bang.”
It’s probably worth pointing out that the report is just a vague round-up of all the bits-and-bobs and fan speculation that has cropped up around the net over the past few weeks, so take its contents with a pinch of salt for now!

No BAFTA Award for DW and Tennant
Dr Who frontman David Tennant seemed to have serious issues on his mind as he left the Bafta celebrations last night with girlfriend Georgina Moffat.
The Time Lord traveller had two project nominations for Best Drama Series – Dr Who and Einstein And Eddington, but lost out on both counts.
Tennant left the awards ceremony with his blonde girlfriend Georgina Moffat – who played his daughter in the Dr Who series - and he was in the sort of mood that worries Daleks.
The actor, clad in a black tuxedo and what looked like a T-shirt featuring a diamante-studded Storm Trooper, seemed slightly riled, gesticulating as he spoke.
He had earlier presented the TV Executive and former controller of BBC Fiction Jane Tranter with ‘The Special Award’ for her outstanding creative contribution to the industry.

Personally I think its Bottom Line Time, and the bottom line is this - Its the end of April and David Tennant has been on out screens as the Doctor for just one hour, what does he expect? He is the nations favorite as the Doctor, and I do agree he plays the part very well and has made it all his own! But other than Doctor Who I'm not a David Tennant fan, I have no interest in Hamlet, Einstein And Eddington, Blackpool or Cassanova. When he leaves Doctor Who I too will hope he comes back for the occasional appearance, but thats it!
Welcome to the world of being just another actor Mr Tennant - Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it!

More News of TW series and TX Transmission Date
Captain Jack & Co. are back in little over a month. We find out when and where you can see "Torchwood: Children of Earth" first.
After months of speculation, the third series of the Doctor Who spin-off show, Torchwood, is to be broadcast on BBC1 in June.
The British Film Institute are hosting a preview of the first episode on Friday, 12th June at the National Film Theatre in London. This would suggest that Torchwood: Children of Earth will start broadcasting on 15th June. As previously announced by the BBC, the five-part series will be aired over five consecutive nights though it would appear that this format will not be observed when it is screened on BBC America.
The event at the NFT also includes a Q&A with guests from the cast and creative team. The BFi have also supplied a synopsis for the first installment (those avoiding spoilers may want to look away now):
1965: Twelve children are gathered on a deserted moor, before being surrounded by a harsh, bright light .... and then they are gone!
Today: all over Earth, children stop moving. Stop playing, stop laughing. Then, as one, they begin to speak with the same voice, announcing the imminent arrival of a new alien threat. "We are coming...". As the British government closes ranks, it issues a death warrant against Captain Jack and Torchwood.
Den of Geek have some news and speculation about the Torchwood Children of Earth BBC1 Transmission.
The British Film Institute are hosting a preview of the first episode on Friday 12th of June at the National Film Theatre in London. This suggests that a BBC1 transmission will commence the following Monday, the 15th of June and will be will be aired over five consecutive weekday nights.

News from TW Magazine issue 15
The 15th issue of the official Torchwood magazine was released this week (see larger cover), and it’s packed with Children of Earth interviews, pictures and exclusives as fans twiddle their thumbs and anxiously await the third series, which is currently penned for a mid-June tranmission.
Everybody’s favourite Captain, John Barrowman, is interviewed inside, and the actor-turned-singer-turned-presenter-turned-author gets the pulses racing for the brand new series…
“The new Torchwood story drags up a lot of people’s secrets, and we all like to see that, don’t we? It’s the kind of story that, once you start watching it, you will be hooked. Even if you’ve never seen Torchwood before, you’re going to fall for these characters, and you’re going to go with them on an amazing journey that will be the biggest rollercoaster ride of their lives.”
You can read his full interview, as well as an exclusive chat with Eve Myles (Gwen) and other CoE set reports and previews, in Torchwood - The Official Magazine #15 - out now priced £4.99.

Anderson to be the Rani
According to tabloid reports this week, Gillian Anderson will appear in the fifth series of Doctor Who as one of the Doctor’s arch-enemies - the Rani.
The American actress, who has already made her mark in the wonderful world of sci-fi following her portrayal of Dana Scully in the hit US series, The X-Files, has apparanetly signed up to appear as the renegade Time Lord alongside Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor in 2010.
The Rani, an evil, scientific genius, was originally played by Kate O’Mara, and was first seen in Doctor Who in the 1985 serial The Mark of the Rani. Her return has been heavily rumoured since the show was brought back to our screens, and producers are positive that Anderson is the perfect choice to take on the infamous role.
“Gillian obviously has a massive sci-fi following following and it’s felt it would be a major coup to have her appear in Doctor Who,” a source told the Daily Express.
They added: “It would undoubtedly be regarded as one of those great sci-fi moments if the star of The X-Files gets to clash with the Doctor.”

TW Series 3 Children of Earth TX Transmission date
Torchwood.TV has a post taken from the new Torchwood Magazine about forthcoming audio dramas, which reveals Children Of Earth transmission details.
The episodes... will air as part of Radio 4s Afternoon Play slot from 2:15pm (it's likely they'll air all in the same week, in June). Its stated that they're set... before Children of Earth - which airs a week or so after the radio series concludes.
So its June or early July for Torchwood Children of Earth! It keeps moving up, but with no Doctor Who for six months, having this in the break is good!

Gllian Anderson to Appear in DW
The 40-year-old, best known for her role as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the sci-fi drama, is expected to be cast opposite the new Doctor Matt Smith.
Doctor Who's makers want the London-based actress to appear in a one-off special episode as a deadly enemy of the Time Lord.
The American star would play the part of the renegade Time Lady The Rani, a glamorous but evil scientific genius previously played in the series by Kate O'Mara in the 80s.
An insider told the Daily Express newspaper: "Gillian obviously has a massive sci-fi following and it's felt that it would be a major coup to have her appear in Doctor Who.
"The team behind the show are keen for the next Doctor to have lots of new enemies and Gillian would be a glamorous and impressive addition to the list.
"The Rani would be a perfect role for her as the character used to be regarded as one of the Doctor's most deadly opponents."
Anderson is currently preparing to star alongside former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston next month in a production of A Doll's House at the Donmar Warehouse in London's West End.
I ignore a lot of these sillly stories, but this one could happen...Gillian Anderson, best known for X-Files Special Agent Dana Scully, is expected to be cast opposite the new Doctor Matt Smith.

OK, it probably still won't happen, but I think its a possible, after all she lives in the UK and having a US actress in the show makes it do well in the USA.
